Bethesda Hospital

In the Bethesda hospital in Mali we have equipped the theatre room with, among other things, our mechanical surgery  table and surgery lamp with LED lighting and backup battery. If the power fails, surgery can continue for another 12 hours. (see attached photos). Much other equipment and surgical instruments have also been supplied. This hospital is a good example of meaningful help. It all started with Dyoumei Keita, who built a maternity hospital in Farakali together with Joke Gosker in 1985. In 1993, Dyoume received money from father Gosker's inheritance to send the children to college. After completing her studies, Ruth Keita will manage the clinic's administration, Samuel Keita will become a Gynecologist, Joel Keita will become a laboratory technician and Esther Keita will become a midwife. Dyoume's vision is: Every sick person must be helped, women and children first and the staff must have diplomas. In 2016, a location was rented in Kalaban Coro for €150.00 per month, paid by the Keita family. In 2017, the site in Kalaban-Coro was purchased for €80,000, paid from family money from the Keitas and Gosker's inheritance. Construction of the Bethesda hospital will start in 2017 and the opening will take place in 2021. Since then, 20 caesarean sections have been performed and the Medic Foundation has supplied a lot of equipment for the hospital's furnishings. Thanks to the efforts of the Keita family and the Gosker family, a hospital has been created that also offers continuity for the future.
